Treaty of Croatia´s Accession to the European Union

The Treaty of Croatia´s Accession to the European Union was signed in Brussels at a separate ceremony preceding the 9 December 2011 session of the European Council. This moment, historical for both Croatia and the European Union, has enabled the process of ratification of the Treaty that will formalise Croatian membership in the Union as of 1 July 2013. The treaty was signed by President Ivo Josipovć and the then Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor on behalf of Croatia and by heads of states or governments of the EU Member States. The signing of the Treaty has marked the end of the lengthy process of preparations for the accession completed with the end of the six-year negotiations in June 2011.

More information, a video of the signing of the Treaty and statements of Croatian and EU officials can be found here.

The Treaty of Accession on our pages is currently available only in English version. Its Croatian version can be found on the web pages of the Croatian Government.
