Head of the EU Delegation with representatives of Trade Unions Confederations
Today, the Head of the EU Delegation to Croatia, Ambassador Paul VANDOREN, met with representatives of Trade Unions Confederations, namely with representatives of the Union of Autonomous Trade Unions of Croatia; the Independent Croatian Trade Unions; the Matica-Association of Croatian Unions; The Croatian trade Union Association and the Association of Workers' Trade Unions of Croatia.
The meeting was an occasion to discuss the functioning of the Social Dialogue in Croatia with a specific focus on the draft Proposal of the Act on Criteria for Participation in Tripartite Bodies & Representatives for Collective Bargaining.
The Ambassador stressed the importance of Social Dialogue in particular in the framework of structural reforms in the Labour Market and in the context of Croatia's effort to attract investments with the objective of economic recovery.
The Ambassador invited the representatives of the Confederations of Trade Unions to agree on a common position on the provisions regulating the "extended application" of the Collective Agreements and stressed the need to work on the reform of the Economy and the Labour Market.
In this context Ambassador Vandoren stated "The Croatian Economy desperately needs investors who will create jobs".
